2/20/16-Building a Robot is a 9 to Whenever We Finish Job

Today many members went through one their hardest precompetition competition: driver tryouts. Potential drivers practiced going through a variety of defenses (the Moat, Rock Wall, Ramparts, Chival de Frise and Low Bar) as quickly and most efficiently as possible. Programmers continued testing of autonomous routines. Success continued with successful crossing of new and old defenses. Very efficient. The Chairman’s […]

2/18/16-The End is Nigh

Five days left! So what happened today? An awful lot! Today the MechEs had their turn to have full use of the robot (still not named) for a few hours. This is because yesterday the programmers got to have over 5 full hours to test their code with the robot. MechEs took full advantage of their […]

2/13/16-Full Speed Ahead

Today Dawgma members continued their work on their robot. With the final build day- known throughout the community as “bag day”-being just a week away, there is no time for messing around. The mechanical team was hard at work-working on a working arm, finishing the last few defenses, and finalizing wiring. With plans have driver practice […]

2/10/16-Crunch Time Is Upon Us

Today the programers continued programming. They continued the hard work on creating a valuable working autonomous. Using practice bot, Runt, the programmers are able to test this code on a easily adjustable robot.  CADers worked hard to try to complete the final aspects of the robot, pushing Inventor more than they ever had before. They locked […]

2/6/16-Slow but Steady

Today Dawgma members continued their hard work. From nine to five, our robotics team slaved away to make our robot go from being a baby, to being a toddler robot. Members were scattered, fighting against the clock as week 4 comes to an end. Just as it takes a village to raise a child, […]

2/4/16-IT’S ALIIIIIIIIVE

Today Dawgma members had an extremely super productive day! Not only is the programming team finishing up the robot’s autonomous routines, but the robot is getting “techy” (as stated by business team member Cecily). Electrical components of the robot have been laid out and wired. The robot has even taken its first few steps in the world. Although this “baby-bot” […]

1/30/16- All Deliberate Speed

Today, members of our mechanical team worked on the drive base… it’s getting there. The chains have been run and tensioned and the wheels mounted. One motor controller is mounted on a 3D printed bracket (thanks Max!), while 3 more are still being printed. The electric layout has also been started. As CADD proceeds, our lone and valiant Finn braves on […]

1/19/16-2nd Tuesday of Build Season

Today Dawgma members continued prototyping different parts of their robot. The parts specifically prototyped today for scaling. The purpose of this prototyping is so members can base design decisions on more real-world grounds rather than pure guesswork. Dawgma members also displayed their prototypes to the rest of the club. They discussed design pros and cons that came out in […]

1/18/16-Optional MLK Meeting

Today Dawgma had a short optional meeting to  prepare for the upcoming week. Taking advantage of some extra work time, Dawgma members worked on awards, building field elements, and configuring the new radio. Because the meeting was short, there was no family dinner today. Dawgma members, however, were still excited to start their second week of build […]
